I id not purchase this item from Amazon, a local retailer had them on sale but none the less this a great smoker at any cost. I have compared it to the far more expensive smokers and I have found that this one has a much stronger, better built main body. The metal is of a heavier gauge of steel. Cheap smokers are made of a lighter gauge of steel and they tend to warp and rust over time. The longer I use them, the more their warping and rusting will increase. This smoker is a very solid, well built unit. I believe that it will hold up for many years to come. The only issue I have is that the controller has a lag time between being activated and the heat coming on. This is not a deal breaker but it is an inconvenience. Wood pellet grills are a great addition to any home because they combine everything you love about a smoker with a standard grill. These grills are not just great for cooking meat, they can also be used to cook vegetables and fruit. Instead of having to learn about the different types of grills and how to make them work, all you have to do is pick one that offers the features you want and configure it to your liking. The Camp Chef SmokePro is probably the best pellet grill on this list by rating and by performance. It has a decently large area for cooking at 19.2 sq. in. and has a maximum temperature of 500°F. This pellet grill also has an automatic ash cleanout system that allows you to dump the ash after every cook session. The Camp Chef SmokePro is an excellent pellet grill. Its digital control allows you to set the cooking temperature from 180 degrees to 500 degrees Fahrenheit which means you can cook for a long time without having to worry about the heat. This pellet grill also has an automatic ash cleanout system that allows you to dump the ash after every cook session. This piece of junk did not work from the get-go. My Dad has a Traeger and it has worked fine for him for years. I was excited to use it because I had read a lot of the positive reviews. However, I was VERY disappointed. When I opened the box and started to set it up it started making a weird noise. We took it apart and found out that the noise was coming from the fan/heater combo unit. We replaced the fan and the heater unit and now it works fine. Whenever you want to smoke with wood, you will need to enlist the help of a professional. A wood smoker, also known as a pellet smoker, will come with a smoker box, the wood pellets, the fire pot, and the controller. The smoker box can usually be found at a hardware store for a few dollars or at a online store like Amazon for slightly less. Bought Junior Elite 20 pellet grill at Costco special sales event. Took it home and it simply wouldn’t get up to temperature to ignite the pellets. Auger made extremely loud noises and then simply stopped working. Packed it back up and returned to Costco with no problem. They would not take it back because it was “too new.” Really? I would have thought they would have been comfortable with a return since they were basically giving it to me free. REC TEC Grills was born in Augusta, Georgia in 2009 by lifelong friends Ray Carnes and Ron Cundy. The pair made it their goal to design and build the best pellet grill in the world. Their vision was to create a pellet grill that could compete with the biggest names in BBQ, and they did just that. Their team of experts worked together to create a brand that pushes the limits of pellet grill technology, offering something unique and innovative for the industry. Due to the lower oxygen at 9200 FASL, I cannot use my Camp Chef SmokePro indoors as I am concerned about unintended combustion. I need to purchase a portable gas smoker for use outdoors, but I can’t find one that will fit the bill. I am looking for a smoker that can go from 0-200 lbs of meat. Any suggestions on a quality brand and model would be greatly appreciated. The old camp chef is heading to a new home. We have been thru thick and thin, rain, or snow, on two ocations high wind blew it off the patio. A few dents bad scratches but it has been in great condition. It was my first camp chef and I was really impressed with it. The new one is a bit more expensive but seems to be built better. The main difference is the controller area. The old one had a digital controller where the new one has a basic controller. It seems the digital controller might have more features. I am wondering if the new controller is digital and if so what features would be available. I have the Memphis Elite 30 pellet grill. I went to a local BBQ restaurant lately and the staff was complaining about the pellet grill. They said it was too hard to use. I found this pellet grill on Amazon and ordered it. They were totally wrong. This pellet grill is easy to use. You just put the pellets in the hopper, set the temperature and let it work. BGE Pro Series Wood Pellet Grill is a great product. If you are looking for an entry level pellet grill, this is the best pellet grill that you can buy. It has an impressive digital controller, and you can cook without supervision. It doesn’t have an automatic start feature, but you can set it to start with the press of a button. I was so excited to get this grill for the weekend. It was easy to assemble and get going. It has a great place for me to put my water bottle and a little storage for tools. We made steak and lobster tails and they came out so good. My husband said that my grilling skills were excellent. I purchased a Memphis Elite 34 this past summer at the local Costco. The price was great and several months later, I started having problems with it. I called the manufacturer and was told that I would have to send it in for a warranty repair. I did and the problem was finally diagnosed as a bad controller. I was then told that I could not return the grill because it was out of warranty. I was very disappointed with Costco’s response. Hey Jeff – I think that would be a great article for people that are starting out with pellet grills. Because the pellet grill is a new thing that a lot of people are wondering about, some people might not know what to expect. Also, pellet grills are a great option for those people who want an outdoor grill but don’t have the space for a large one. Hey Joe – I think that would be a great article for people that are starting out with pellet grills.

This is a great pellet smoker! With a few minor tweaks, this thing would be perfect. Ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sausage, you name it and it comes off of the grates awesome. I just started using pellet grill last week and I’ve had a great experience thus far. I have not had the time to create a post on it yet, but I just wanted to let you know what I’ve cooked on mine. So far, I have smoked chicken thighs, whole chicken, beef brisket, pork ribs, brisket, and turkey breasts. The grill has performed very well, I have not had any problems at all. The only thing I would mention is that I wish the grill had warmer marks, instead of the cold circles you get when you run your hand over the heating coils. This smoker has a digital controller and a temperature probe, which makes it easy to manage your cooking temperature. With its 400 sq. in. of cooking space, this smoker can hold a lot of food. This is the second one I have received as the first one was a lemon. The first one worked great the first 3 times I used it, but then I started getting “Err” message, as well as an overheat message randomly that would not go away. I returned it to Amazon and promptly received a replacement. I have used this one heavily for 7 days now and have had no problems. I will check back in in a couple weeks with my results. It is very well constructed and makes great grilling! Pellets work so well with the temperature control on your pellet grill because they are made from compressed sawdust and wood. This allows you to have an extremely accurate temperature with very little guesswork. Some pellet grills even have a digital temperature control that helps set a precise cooking level, and the pellets are lit on fire by a thermostat.

64 preset cooking programs:  4 smoking profiles:  Warm smoke, Rich Smoke, Hot Smoke, and Direct Heat 4” Beast Barbecue System:  1.25 lb. hickory soaked and ready to smoke, Stainless steel construction with a digital temperature controller and ash catcher Hello.. You recommended a pellet smoker that has a “ convection setting.” This means a pellet smoker that goes off of the heat instead of using indirect heat. It sounds like the PBC has good convection and would work well for producing steaks or chicken because it can hold a good amount of heat. All you have to do is make sure that your smoker has the correct convection setting. I’ve been wanting a Yoder for the last year and a half. Finally pulled the trigger on a 640 a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely fantastic. I’ve been a Weber guy forever and this is my first smoker. This thing is amazing. My first cook was a racks of ribs and they were just glorious. I’ve also smoked chicken, pork and brisket (and are working on a beef brisket now). The only problem I had was that the smoke went everywhere. Family room, living room, kitchen, out on the deck. And it continued to come out the door and into the yard. carpets, furniture, Google. I’ve had it for about a year now and it’s still working like brand new. I’ve had some minor problems with it (the baffle isn’t always straight so the brisket isn’t extremely consistent) but those are usually solved by taking it apart and re-aligning it. It’s also been very reliable during the cold weather where I live when the temperature has been below 0 degrees F. Everything I’ve cooked on it has been great. The one thing I would improve is the instructions – I’ve seen several reviews where people say it’s very hard to figure out how to use the grill. Pit Boss will manufacturer a pellet grill that comes with a variety of features, that means you can enjoy your cooking experience. It does not only have an automatic fire control but also an automatic pellet feeder. What does this mean? It means that you don’t have to keep refilling the pellet hopper. Now, you just have to place an order and wait for the pellet machine to deliver quality grills that would make your cooking experience more enjoyable. The Pit Boss Company manufactures wood pellet grills, smokers, and fireplaces. The company was founded by George Cloutier in 1987 and is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. As of 2009, Pit Boss products are sold in over 20 countries. In 2012, Pit Boss acquired the smoker division of Moeller. Hey John – thanks for your comment! I think you’d be very happy with the Yoder pellet smoker. It comes with a lot of features that will make it extremely easy to use. Besides, the quality of the smoker seems really good. The price is very reasonable, too – much lower than other smokers on the market. The biggest drawback of pellet smokers is the requirements that they burn wood pellets with an open flame. Wood pellets are an outdoor burning material that must be handled and carried with care. If the smoker is not correctly set-up, the open flame could ignite the pellets and cause a fire. There could also be problems if the circulating water tank isn’t in direct contact with the fire. We bought this smoker for a year and we absolutely love it! We have had it set up for about two months now and we have never had any issues. The only thing I would really like to see is an automatic shut off feature. Other than that, the smoker is amazing and is finally completing our kitchen. Product is decent but customer service really didn’t help me out when they sent me a wrong accessory part that was ordered by their customer service. Explained that the representative misunderstood my request for an accessory and then they needed to send the right part without getting my order wrong. Then couldn’t do that because the representative had to return to their store. Really poor customer service that I wouldn’t recommend. While using and running a pellet smoker, there are many factors to consider. Obviously, the first consideration is safety and keeping the fire under control. Following this, you can make sure that the temperature is consistent and the meat is cooked the way you want it. With the rotisserie setting, you can also optimize the cooking time. Lastly, you can ensure quality and consistency of the meat by controlling the cooking temperature and smoking duration. This smoker has had absolutely no problems at all. The smoker started up on the first pull, which was wonderful. I’ve used it 3 times now and it has worked perfectly every time. I find myself wanting to cook on it more and more. I just moved out of a large apartment and I’m looking for an easy to use smoker that I can do lots of cooking on. Hey Kevin – great article. I still have a few questions, but I think I have the majority of them answered. I’m about to build a pellet smoker and I’m looking at the Memphis Pro Series. I was wondering what you thought about that model? The price seems a little high for a pellet smoker, but it seems to have great reviews. Hey Charles, you’re famous for a good reason! Your cookbooks are some of the best on the market. I have both the Smoke & The Grill book. I’ve had great experience with both of them. They’ve helped me improve my cooking skills a lot. Hello.. The things I don’t like:

The folding legs are stable, but they were difficult to use and disassemble with one person.
